Terms of Use
By using Odomint you agree to these terms. Please read the section on vehicle information carefully. It explains the limits of what this app can tell you.
What Odomint is
Odomint helps you keep track of your vehicles: their MOT and tax dates, documents, service history, running costs and mileage. It is an organisational tool. It is not a substitute for professional mechanical inspection, legal advice, or an official record.
Vehicle information
Vehicle data is sourced from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT History API where available. We present it as supplied and cannot guarantee it is complete, current or correct.
Where live data is unavailable, the app clearly marks the vehicle as showing sample data. Sample data is generated for demonstration and does not describe any real vehicle. Never rely on it.
The free background checks feature reads the MOT record only. It is not a vehicle history check. It cannot tell you whether a vehicle has outstanding finance, has been stolen, or has been written off, and a clear result does not mean it is free of those things, for that you need an Odomint Check. It does not and cannot tell you whether a vehicle has outstanding finance, has been stolen, or has been written off. A clean result does not mean a vehicle is clear of those things.
Valuations and cost estimates are indicative only and are not offers, appraisals, or financial advice.
Subscriptions
Odomint offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Odomint Premium, at £9.99 per month or £59.99 per year.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device Settings under your Apple ID → Subscriptions, at any time.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, where offered, is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us.
Odomint Check purchases
An Odomint Check is a single vehicle report for one registration, priced at £9.99. It is a one-off purchase, not a subscription, and nothing renews.
- Each purchase gives you one check. A check is only used when a report is successfully produced. If we cannot find the registration, or the lookup fails, your check is returned to you automatically and you can use it again.
- Once a report has been produced, that check has been used.
- Reports you have paid for stay in the app for as long as your account exists, and re-opening one is always free.
Refund requests
If you ask Apple for a refund on a purchase, Apple may ask us whether the content was delivered and used. By buying an Odomint Check you agree that we may share that information with Apple: specifically, whether a report was produced for you and whether your account is in good standing. We report only what our records show. We do not send Apple the contents of any report, your vehicle details, or your location.
Your right to cancel, and why it does not apply here
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. That right is lost where you ask for the content to be supplied immediately and acknowledge that you will lose it.
By buying an Odomint Check and running it, you are asking us to supply the report immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once the report has been produced. The report is generated within seconds of your request and is yours to keep, so it cannot meaningfully be returned.
The same applies to a subscription once a billing period has begun, and Odomint Premium is offered with a 7-day free trial so that you can decide whether it suits you before paying anything at all. You can cancel at any point during the trial and will not be charged.
None of this affects your legal rights where something has gone wrong. If a report is inaccurate, see If the data is wrong below. Those rights cannot be signed away and we are not trying to.
Your account and your content
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your account secure. You retain ownership of your documents and records. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display them back to you, and to operate the features you choose to use.
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Odomint unlawfully, do not attempt to circumvent its rate limits or security, and do not use it to look up vehicles for the purpose of harassing or tracing their owners.
Vehicle history checks
A vehicle history check is a one-off purchase, separate from any subscription. You buy a credit, and one credit is spent when a report is produced for a registration. Opening a report you have already bought again does not cost another credit.
Where the data comes from. The outstanding finance, insurance write-off, stolen marker, salvage auction history, vehicle identity, keeper history, registration and plate changes, colour changes, and scrapped, exported and imported status markers are data provided by Experian. The MOT history, advisories and mileage readings come from the DVSA, and the tax and vehicle details from the DVLA. Odomint presents that information; it does not compile it and cannot independently verify it.
A report is a snapshot, not a warranty about the car. It records what those sources held at the moment it was produced, and every report shows that time. Finance can be registered against a vehicle after a check has been run. A report is information to help you decide; it is not advice on whether to buy, and it is not a substitute for inspecting the vehicle, checking the V5C, or having it examined by a mechanic.
The Experian data guarantee
Reports include an Experian data guarantee of up to £10,000, lasting 12 months from the date of the check. The guarantee is Experian's, not Odomint's, and it is given by Experian directly to you on Experian's terms.
What it covers is defined by Experian's terms, not by us. We deliberately do not summarise the scope of the guarantee here: any paraphrase risks misstating it in one direction or the other, and the document below is what actually governs a claim.
Those terms set conditions you must meet for a claim to succeed, including that the check must be purchased before you purchase the vehicle, matching the VIN and registration against the V5C, verifying the seller's identity and address, keeping a signed receipt, and not paying substantially below market value. We set these out in the app alongside the report, but the terms that apply are Experian's own, published at the Experian Data Guarantee terms and conditions. If you need to claim, contact us and we will provide your stored report and the claim route.
If a report turns out to be wrong
Tell us. We will give you the report we produced, with its timestamp, and the route to claim under the Experian guarantee where it applies. We will also refund what you paid for that report.
Odomint's own liability for a report is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law does not allow that limit. We do not exclude, and cannot exclude, our duty to supply the service with reasonable care and skill.
Availability
We aim to keep Odomint running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features that depend on third parties (DVLA, DVSA, Open Charge Map, OpenStreetMap) may be unavailable at times, and may change or be withdrawn.
Liability
Odomint is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, nor for losses arising from reliance on vehicle data, valuations or cost estimates, nor for a missed MOT, tax or insurance deadline. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the thing that went wrong.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for a failure to supply the service with reasonable care and skill, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected, and nothing here is intended to reduce them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
