Where Driversnote wins

[1]
A free plan.

Free for up to 15 trips a month, according to its help centre. Odomint’s tracker needs Premium once the 7-day trial ends.

[2]
Built for teams.

Plans for businesses that want one logbook across several drivers. Odomint is for individual drivers and families, not fleets.

[3]
Mileage and nothing else.

If a logbook is all you want, a dedicated one keeps it simple.

Where Odomint wins

[1]
The whole car, not just the miles.

MOT and tax dates from the DVLA and DVSA, every MOT result since 2005, service history, documents, a health score, live fuel prices and the Odomint Check for used cars.

[2]
No trip limit.

Premium records every drive, however often you drive for work.

[3]
Your drives stay on your phone.

They are not uploaded to our servers, and each one can be deleted.

[4]
Your rate, not only HMRC’s.

Use 55p and 25p, start from the business miles you have already done this year, or set your own pence per mile.

[5]
The family, free.

Circles share cars, their dates and arrivals home, free for everyone in them.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Driversnote if you run a small team and want one shared logbook, or you make fewer than 15 work trips a month and want it free.

Pick Odomint if you are one driver who wants the claim plus MOT, tax, service history and family sharing for the same car, with no limit on drives.

Switching? Keep your existing reports for past tax years, because HMRC can ask for them. Start the new app from a clean date, ideally the start of a month, so your records split neatly.

What HMRC needs from the log

For each business journey HMRC wants the date, where you started and finished, why you went, and the miles. Odomint records the date, the route, the start and end places and the distance on its own, and you add the purpose with one tap.

The claim totals itself at 55p a mile for the first 10,000 business miles in the tax year and 25p after, and exports as a CSV. Run both apps side by side for a week if you like. Seeing the same drives appear in each is the quickest way to trust the new one.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Driversnote alternative in the UK?

For another dedicated tracker, MileIQ has a free plan of 40 drives a month. If you want the claim alongside MOT, tax, service history and family sharing, Odomint does all of that in one app.

Is Driversnote free?

Its help centre says it is free for up to 15 trips a month, with paid plans for more. Check its website for current UK prices.

Which is better for HMRC?

Both produce a record HMRC accepts. What matters is that every business journey is logged with its purpose, which both make quick.

Does Odomint work for teams?

Odomint is built for individual drivers and families rather than company fleets.
